Short Back & Sides With Length Through The Top

Again, you must adjust the cut to suit your particular face shape. As previously mentioned, tightly clippered sides are best for slightly rounder or squarer face shapes, but if your face is slightly longer and/or narrower then I would suggest a low fade around the edges, maintaining some length through the sides to help give the illusion of width.
For the majority of men, growing their hair longer pushes them way out of their comfort zone. Without a doubt, this is a high maintenance cut when it comes to styling and keeping it looking its best. It requires you to commit time to your grooming routine, which is not always possible for the modern male, so bear that in mind.

Styling
It’s extremely important to blow-dry the hair into place when styling. Depending on your hair length, type, texture and the finish you require it may need to be blow-dried with a vented brush to achieve the perfect shape, or rough dried with your fingers for a more dishevelled appearance. Some men even choose to rough dry and then style more precisely using hair straighteners. The option you choose really does come down to how much time you are willing to spend on your hair, although products are designed to help make the process much more efficient. For instance, if you have dry, frizzy hair then apply a smoothing cream to the hair before blow-drying. Likewise, if you have fine hair then apply a thickening lotion to help give it some life and control.
Due to its length, you can often leave this haircut slightly longer between salon visits – it all depends on how sharp you would like to keep the back and sides. I find some clients will start by wearing their hair higher in a pompadour but as it gets longer the fringe is then styled to the side. I always recommend using a good hairspray to control the hair as it grows out, rather than over-applying styling products, which can leave the hair looking greasy.
